Alpha Groot is my favorite asset that I was trusted to work on for this film! I worked on this guy for more than a month doing a little bit of concept sculpting and at the same time turning it into a hero asset that we can use in our pipeline. Usually, we get an art model from the client but for this guy we only had an approved 2d concept art, from there our art department team did a pass to bring it in the 3d world. But since we were on a very tight schedule, our VFX supervisor (Guy Williams) decided to jump on the gun and handed it over to our Models department. That way we can still continue concepting in 3d but slowly taking it to the finish line. It was definitely a challenging task for me but I embraced and enjoyed the creative input that I was able to bring in because I'm a big fan of this character. I actually did a fan art of Baby Groot back when the Vol 1 came out. So having able to work on his ultimate form gave me the opportunity to complete the circle which is totally mind blowing experience! :)
